Benefits of NAAP Membership
- NAAP is the National Association that advocates for the Activity Professional working with seniors in all care settings.
- NAAP was instrumental in having “Activities” added to the Federal Regulations. If activities were not required, many Activity Professionals would not have jobs.
- NAAP had a great deal of input into the new guidance to surveyors for activities, which was implemented in 2007.This new guidance further promotes the importance of activities and the profession. These new guidelines indirectly force facilities to provide better budgets for activities And require surveyors to examine the qualifications of the Activity Director and issue a citation when an unqualified person has been hired. This raises the bar on who an Administrator can hire and will lead to better salaries for Activity Professionals.
- NAAP keeps abreast of all legislative bills pertinent to the field and provides input/feedback as needed. If a bill is introduced that could harm the profession or the Activity Professional, NAAP fights it.
- NAAP has a presence at conferences for Administrators and owners, further promoting and highlighting the importance of the Activity Profession.
- NAAP members write articles for major publications and Web sites, providing additional exposure for the Activity Profession.
- NAAP offers education to keep Activity Professionals abreast of emerging trends, new programming ideas, changes in documentation requirements, etc.
- NAAP offers a bi-monthly newsletter with articles of interest to the Activity Professional, as well as updates about government issues, documentation requirements, trends, ideas, etc.
- NAAP has a “Members Only” section on its Web site with information and articles, the latest Culture Change information, governmental updates, announcements, etc., to assist the Activity Professional to be the best they can be.
- NAAP collaborates with the Pioneer Network, CMS, NCCNHR, AHCA, AAHSA, and NAB to provide information about Culture Change principles to members.
- NAAP supports the Activity Profession and Activity Professionals, through its membership numbers to be able to offer support and advocacy within regulatory agencies and industry associations.
- NAAP Office has full-time staff available Monday-Friday to answer questions, address concerns, and assist the members as needed.
